Position Overview:

The Mechanical Chief Design Officer will lead the mechanical engineering design team in developing, planning, and executing all mechanical aspects of hospital projects.

This includes HVAC systems, plumbing, medical gas systems, fire protection, and other critical mechanical systems required in a healthcare environment.

The role demands a blend of leadership, technical expertise, and project management skills to ensure designs meet regulatory standards, client expectations, and are delivered on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the mechanical design team in the conceptualization and development of mechanical systems for hospital projects.
• Oversee the design and integration of HVAC systems, plumbing, fire protection, and medical gas systems.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, local building codes).
• Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources efficiently.
• Review and approve mechanical designs, calculations, and specifications.
• Conduct site visits to ensure proper implementation and resolve any issues that arise.
• Mentor and develop junior mechanical engineers and design staff.
• Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to hospital mechanical systems.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering design, with at least 5 years focused on healthcare facilities.
• Proven track record in leading design teams and managing large-scale projects.
• In-depth knowledge of healthcare-specific mechanical systems and their regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant tools.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
