Position Overview: The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the company's supply chain operations, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective flow of goods from our 26 milk collection centres to our production facilities and ultimately to our customers. This role requires a strategic thinker with excellent organizational skills and a deep understanding of supply chain management within the dairy industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Supply Chain Strategy and Planning:

• Develop and implement supply chain strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives.
• Design and optimize supply chain processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
• Conduct regular analysis of supply chain performance and identify areas for improvement.

Procurement and Inventory Management:

• Oversee the procurement of raw materials, including fresh milk from local farmers.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure a reliable supply of high-quality raw materials.
• Manage inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock while minimizing excess and obsolescence.
• Implement inventory control systems to track and manage stock levels accurately.

Logistics and Distribution:

• Coordinate logistics and distribution activities to ensure timely delivery of raw materials to production facilities and finished products to customers.
• Optimize transportation routes and methods to reduce costs and improve delivery times.
• Oversee the maintenance and management of the company's fleet of vehicles and transportation equipment.

Production Planning:

• Collaborate with the production team to develop and implement production schedules that meet customer demand while optimizing resource utilization.
• Ensure that production plans are aligned with supply chain capabilities and constraints.
• Monitor production progress and make adjustments as needed to address any issues or delays.

Quality Control and Compliance:

• Ensure that all supply chain activities comply with industry regulations and company policies.
• Implement quality control measures to ensure the integrity and safety of raw materials and finished products.
• Conduct regular audits of suppliers and production facilities to ensure compliance with quality standards.

Supplier Relationship Management:

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with local farmers and other suppliers.
• Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.
• Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to quality, delivery, or pricing.

Team Leadership and Development:

• Lead and manage the supply chain team, providing guidance, mentorship, and development opportunities.
• Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the supply chain department.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and set individual development plans for team members.

Budgeting and Financial Management:

• Develop and manage the supply chain budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
• Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and take corrective actions as needed.
• Prepare regular reports on supply chain performance, costs, and other key metrics for the General Manager.

Technology and Systems Management:

• Implement and manage supply chain management software and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Ensure the effective use of technology to streamline supply chain processes and enhance visibility.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in supply chain management within the dairy or food industry.
• Proven track record of managing and optimizing supply chain operations.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to analyze supply chain data and develop effective strategies.
• Proficiency in using supply chain management software and tools.

Work Environment:
